Connecting carbon capture to agriculture.

Carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS) is one of the ways that society will attempt to combat climate change and meet its objective of keeping human-generated carbon dioxide (CO2) out of the atmosphere. AG Gas is a forward-thinking ag-tech company that is committed to contributing to carbon capture (CCUS), specifically through leveraging the benefit of CO2 in agriculture.

Conventional methods for CO2 enrichment, such as using burners, counteract CCUS efforts. Burners generate new CO2 in addition to other harmful chemicals such as Nitrogen Oxides (NOx), Carbon Monoxide (CO), Ethylene (C2H4), Methane (CH4), Nitrous Oxide (N2O), Sulfur Dioxide (SO2), and other volatile organic compounds (VOCs), which can be harmful to plants and can be dangerous for those working around them. Burners also rely on fossil fuels and present a significant fire risk.

AG Gas uses high purity CO2 sourced from otherwise uncontrolled gas released from industrial applications into the atmosphere and instead uses it to enrich an agricultural environment. Enriching a plant’s growing environment with additional CO2 leads to increased crop growth and additional carbon storage within the plant’s biomass. An added environmental benefit of CO2 enrichment is that plants use water more efficiently.

AG Gas remains committed to CCUS efforts and is actively working with developers of new CO2 capture technologies to help turn the problem of CO2 into an economic and environmental opportunity.
